Her upbringing in Tokyo included study of the koto (traditional stringed instrument) and the pursuit of ikebana and the art of tea. Following high school in New York State, Yuki studied painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, graduating in 1984 with a BFA. She additionally holds postgraduate degrees in the fields of linguistics (MA. tesol) and fine art (MA. studio art). Her work has been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions internationally. With a strong dedication to teaching, she has been awarded visiting artist opportunities at a number of art schools at home and abroad.
